You are here: What We Do

The key to our success is:

Increase public awareness of the historic environment on the Wirral

Broaden access to the historic environment and engagement with historical societies on the Wirral

Stimulate access, interest and enjoyment through the historical sites on the Wirral and collections in the care of the Wirral Council

One of the most significant changes in society in the last 25 years has been a vast increase in the number of people who care deeply about the historic environment.  Three years ago the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral through the  Cultural Services department set up the Wirral History and Heritage Forum.  Meetings have been held over the period and discussions have taken place on how best to set up the WH&HA which is now in operation as a completely independent organisation. Membership is welcome from and any History, Heritage or Family group and individual membership is also welcome.

Mission

The mission of the Wirral History and Heritage Association (WH&HA) is to work with the Wirral Council to establish and implement a history, heritage and cultural strategy for Wirral to make the past part of our future and to create a cycle of understanding, valuing, caring and enjoyment, for all residents of Wirral.

Keys to Success

The historic environment is not an exclusive place, nor is it a kind of reserve to be visited only in our leisure time. It is the context within which we live our lives. WH&HA   actively promotes the benefits to every one of enjoying the historic environment. We help people to understand and learn from the historic environment, to value it and care for it.
